Commemorative Evening for the Armenian Genocide at Bzommar Monastery

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Vicar General Monsignor Raphael Traboulsi represented the Chaldean Diocese of Beirut at the commemorative evening organized by the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate in the courtyard of the Monastery of Our Lady of Bzommar on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide remembrance, under the patronage and in the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI. The gathering was held under the title “The Light of Holiness from the Darkness of Genocide” and highlighted the one hundred and eleventh anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The event included speeches, traditional songs, theatrical performances, folkloric dances, and the screening of short documentary films. The celebration was attended by representatives of Christian and non-Christian denominations, religious and public figures, and a large crowd of faithful from various age groups and Lebanese regions. Television networks and photographers covered the event before a wreath was laid at the memorial of Saint Ignatius Maloyan and candles and lamps were lit before his statue. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Monsignor Raphael conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Bishop Michel Kassarji to His Beatitude Patriarch Minassian and to His Excellency Bishop Krikor Robert Badishah, Patriarchal Vicar.
