At midday on Friday, July 24, 2026, His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paul III Nona, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and throughout the world, visited the Shrine of Divine Mercy and the Monastery of the Lebanese Maronite Missionary Fathers. He was welcomed by the Superior General, Fr. Elias Sleiman, together with several members of the missionary congregation. Following prayer in the monastery church, Patriarch Nona thanked the missionary fathers for their evangelical mission and expressed his joy at being the first Chaldean Patriarch to visit the congregation. He also reflected on the unique harmony between nature and faith that the missionaries have preserved, describing it as a sign that Christian faith is not merely theoretical but is lived and embodied in the depth of human life and creation. In return, the missionary fathers expressed their gratitude for the Patriarch’s visit and assured him of their prayers and solidarity with Iraqi Christians in particular, as well as for the perseverance of Christians throughout the Middle East. Patriarch Nona was accompanied by Bishop Michel Kassarji, Head of the Chaldean Community in Lebanon, together with priests of the diocese. Also present were Bishops Edgar Madi, Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, and Robert Rabbat.
