As part of the preparations for the 60th anniversary of the conciliar declaration Nostra Aetate, in which the Catholic Church called for openness and dialogue with other religions, the Vicar General of the Chaldean Diocese of Beirut, Monsignor Raphael Traboulsi, represented both the Chaldean Diocese of Beirut and the Episcopal Committee for Islamic-Christian Dialogue at a meeting held on August 18, 2025, in Saint George Maronite Cathedral in Beirut. The meeting was presided over by Bishop Youssef Soueif, with the participation of Bishops Guy-Paul Najm, Paul Matar, Hanna Rahmé, Abbot Joseph Bou Raad, along with priests and activists in the field. The gathering aimed to establish clear foundations for a conference and workshops that would shed new light on the aforementioned text in a way that speaks to today’s humanity.
